Trapunto and Cording - 8th December 2016

Thermofax Printing -1st & 2nd December 2016
£185.00Thermofax printing is very similar to screenpring but is easier to manage and you can create very fine detailed images onto fabric, paper and if you want your walls! You can use any medium in the same way as you can with a screenprint. The machine we use is based on the old 1950’s technology of photocopying. As there are no chemicals involved in the process it is a very safe and simple way to create amazing images. On this two day workshop you will learn to make the screens and then print 2m of fabric for either dressmaking, home furnishing or a textile art project. Sussex based Merchant Mills was formed in 2010 to elevate sewing to its proper place in the creative world, respecting the craftsmanship it entails. Simply designed paper patterns with emphasis on cut and silhouette with minimal fastenings and details for a utilitarian look.
THE STRAND COAT
The Strand is a simple unlined coat for cutting a dash in the city. Lightweight and relaxed, it is designed for linen, cotton drill, wool, seersucker denim. The side seams have been brought to the front and feature a side pocket. The waist seam has an in-seam pocket. The sleeves are set in and sport elbow darts and the front fastening is created by inseam hooks and eyes

Thermofax Printing -28th & 29th May 2016
£185.00Thermofax printing is very similar to screenpring but is easier to manage and you can create very fine detailed images onto fabric, paper and if you want your walls! You can use any medium in the same way as you can with a screenprint. The machine we use is based on the old 1950’s technology of photocopying. As there are no chemicals involved in the process it is a very safe and simple way to create amazing images. On this two day workshop you will learn to make the screens and then print 2m of fabric for either dressmaking, home furnishing or a textile art project.
