Sometimes working one to one with a tutor is a great way to move forward with specific skills that you wish to learn. Another reason may be that you would prefer to do shorter workshops on a regular basis to suit your busy week.

Working with Deborah you can choose very specific subjects which you wish to develop in the barn.

I am able to offer one to one tuition at a time that is convenient to you.

Your Own Group

If you would like to work with your own group of friends then below you will find a list of all the workshops I teach.  There needs to be a minimum of four of you and a maximum of six.

The cost is per person and includes all materials and equipment required for the workshop. 

SKETCHBOOKS -  one day - £65 per person

We will explore a multitude of techniques and materials including collage, paint, fabric and stitch. This workshop is designed to take away the fear of the blank page! 

EMBROIDERY AND SASHIKO - two days - £120 per person

An introduction to hand embroidery on the first day and Japanese Sashiko on the second.

DRAWING WITH THREAD - One day - £75 per person

An introduction to the addictive technique of of free hand machine embroidery.

ADVANCED FREE HAND MACHINE EMBROIDERY - 2 days - £165 per person

COLOURING FABRIC - 2 days - £175 per person

Learn to use procion dyes as both a liquid and paint medium

THERMOFAX PRINTING - 2 days - £185 per person

This is very similar to screenprinting and once you have done this workshop your are able to come to the barn and use the machine when you want to.

SILK PAINTING - one day - £75 per person

Working with gutta, heat setting silk paints a shaving foam!

CREATING TEXTURE - one day - £75 per person

On this workshop you will learn many techniques in manipulating fabric to create texture which can be transferred into so many of your textile and dressmaking projects.

CRAZY PATCHWORK - one day - £70 per day

A really fun way to begin quilting without the measuring!!

SHIBORI - one day £78 per person

Shibori is the Japanese art of resist dying using binding, folding, stitching and twisting to create beautiful fabrics.

COILED POTS - one day - £70 per person

Learn to make coiled fabric pots by using a sewing machine.

PIECING AND PATCHWORK -  two days - £175 per person

This two day workshop will cover the principles of piecing fabric from traditional quilting blocks to contemporary piecing 

DEVORE - one day - £78 per person

Learn this wonderful technique, which removes areas of fabric leaving a lace like quality.

BEADING, COUCHING AND RIBBON EMBROIDERY - two days - £175 per person

Techniques which are fundamental embellishment for all textile and dressmaking work.

BATIK - one day - £78 per person

Create beautiful fabrics using wax and dye.

AN INTRODUCTION TO QUILTING - two days - £175 per person

Covering all the fundamentals of creating a quilt whether for traditional use or contemporary wall pieces.

PEG LOOM WEAVING - one day - £75 per person

A fantastic opportunity to learn this ancient skill of hand weaving on a traditional Peg loom.

POJAGI - two days - £175 per person

This is a beautiful Korean technique to create exquisite fabric panels.

FELT MAKING - two days - £175 per person
