 Marcy’s love of sewing comes through in her designs, curved seam lines, A-symmetrical hemlines, different darts and tucks, unusual pocket details and seam finishes all make for exciting original garments.

 We have chosen a mix of patterns using various fabrics so if you are looking for an unusual design, would like to learn new techniques or work with a difficult fabric there is something for everyone.

Thermofax printing is very similar to screenpring but is easier to manage and you can create very fine detailed images onto fabric, paper and if you want your walls! You can use any medium in the same way as you can with a screenprint. The machine we use is based on the old 1950’s technology of photocopying. As there are no chemicals involved in the process it is a very safe and simple way to create amazing images. On this two day workshop you will learn to make the screens and then print 2m of fabric for either dressmaking, home furnishing or a textile art project. Doggie Coat

All the notions needed to make this stunning designer doggie coat are provided in this workshop including a pattern. You will need to bring an appropriate size towel for your dog! in this 1 day workshop you will make a practical and stylish towelling robe for your dog. The pattern will suit all sizes of dogs from a tiny Chihuahua to a large Labrador. The robes outer fabric and inner lining are towelling to help your dog dry out after they've been in the rain, dipped in for a swim or need a bath after a soak in the muddiest puddle they could find. The robe has a tie belt and velcro fastening at the neck. We'll provide the pattern, notions and trims all you need to do is bring along a towel to two to make the robe. I am delighted to welcome Sarah Lloyd to the barn to teach this two day workshop. Sarah is a fantastic embroiderer and a great teacher. If you have previously been on the beginners embroidery workshop then this is going to be a brilliant follow on workshop. On this two day workshop you will learn how to use hand stitching to add texture and three dimensional elements to your creative work. Covering both drawn thread techniques and variations on some traditional stitches, you will explore ways to develop your hand stitching skills. Samples will be worked on linen using cotton perlé and stranded thread. If you would like to bring your own stand and frame we are happy for you to do so although all equipment for the workshop will be provided. I am delighted to welcome Juliet Ferry from Hand and Lock to the barn to teach Tambour Beading. Hand and Lock are expert practitioners of this embroidery technique popular on international catwalks and seen in shows by designers such as Elie Saab and Oscar De La Renta. Tambour beading also known as Lunéville or Crochet de Lunéville is a French Haute Couture technique where beads or sequins can be attached to a fabric. The embroidery is done with a special hook working through a fabric stretched tight as a drum. Over the two days, you will learn how to create a design, set up a full size frame and find out how to work the hook through the fabric without catching and then go on to learn technique. Thermofax printing is very similar to screenpring but is easier to manage and you can create very fine detailed images onto fabric, paper and if you want your walls! You can use any medium in the same way as you can with a screenprint. The machine we use is based on the old 1950’s technology of photocopying. As there are no chemicals involved in the process it is a very safe and simple way to create amazing images. We will explore a multitude of techniques and materials including collage, paint, fabric and stitch. This workshop is designed to take away the fear of the blank page! All materials and thread are included in the cost of the workshop. Free hand machine embroidery allows your imagination to run wild whether figurative or abstract. You will learn all the tricks of the trade including layering with thread and using dissolvable fabric. We will also create a quilted sample.
