Shibori is the Japanese art of resist dying using binding, folding, stitching and twisting to create beautiful fabrics. Kanoko shibori is what we would term as tie-dye but the Japanese developed many many more techniques to create incredibly beautiful patterns. On this course you will learn many of the techniques and how to prepare the dyes. All the dyes we prepare will be safe to use at home. Advanced Hand Stitching - 29th and 30th November 2018

I am delighted to welcome Sarah Lloyd to the barn to teach this two day workshop. Sarah is a fantastic embroiderer and a great teacher. If you have previously been on the beginners embroidery workshop then this is going to be a brilliant follow on workshop. On this two day workshop you will learn how to use hand stitching to add texture and three dimensional elements to your creative work. Covering both drawn thread techniques and variations on some traditional stitches, you will explore ways to develop your hand stitching skills. Samples will be worked on linen using cotton perlé and stranded thread. If you would like to bring your own stand and frame we are happy for you to do so although all equipment for the workshop will be provided. As this workshop will involve detailed work and manipulation of threads please remember to bring your reading glasses and any additional magnification that you may require!! Learn More
