Doggie Coat

All the notions needed to make this stunning designer doggie coat are provided in this workshop including a pattern. You will need to bring an appropriate size towel for your dog! in this 1 day workshop you will make a practical and stylish towelling robe for your dog. The pattern will suit all sizes of dogs from a tiny Chihuahua to a large Labrador. The robes outer fabric and inner lining are towelling to help your dog dry out after they've been in the rain, dipped in for a swim or need a bath after a soak in the muddiest puddle they could find. The robe has a tie belt and velcro fastening at the neck. We'll provide the pattern, notions and trims all you need to do is bring along a towel to two to make the robe. Creating a classic lined winter coat which will last a life time is a major project. The course will run over three days, 1 week apart and there will be an initial consultation to discuss patterns. The first week you will make a calico toile and carry out fittings. You will need to choose your fabric , we are happy to give you advice if required. The reason for the fabric not being included in the cost of the workshop, as we would normally do, is that we think to make this commitment you will want to be very specific about the fabric you choose. You may want cashmere or wool or even fur! but it needs to be your choice. We will have a selection of fabric for you to choose at varying price levels or alternatively you are welcome to bring your own. There will also be a large choice of patterns for you to choose from, all selected so they can be completed in the three days but will require homework. Included in the cost is attendance at stitch cafe on 30th January, 3rd & 10th February for those who don't want to work alone or don't have the equipment at home. You will learn how to speed tailor and all the tailoring techniques required to complete this project and you will learn to handle working with heavier fabrics. This is an introductory course to quilting. We will start with a look at some historical and contemporary quilts and then move onto to design and colour development. Kanoko shibori is what we would term as tie-dye but the Japanese developed many many more techniques to create incredibly beautiful patterns. On this course you will learn many of the techniques and how to prepare the dyes. All the dyes we prepare will be safe to use at home.
